2017 GP Finals

Sunday 28th January

Venue: 643FT

Hi all.

The 2017 GP Finals will be held Sunday 28th January at 643FT Palmerston North.  (If you don't know where this is, PM for info).

The gates to 643 will be open from 08:30am on the Sunday only.   Please follow the signs for parking.

Sighting in range is open from 08:35.    The sighting in range is in a totally different area to the course, so you can get there early and have at the sighting range to your hearts content.

Pre-Shoot briefing will be at 09:15.  Not expected to take too long.    Shooting starts as soon as this is completed.

There will be a $15.00 fee for the day.  Payable to me before you enter onto the course.

BBQ and Prizes when everyone has completed shooting and the course has been packed away.

Expect the unexpected weather wise, and bring all the necessaries.   The weather gods have been playing shenanigans on us for the last few shoots, so expect some fun with the wind, rain, sleet, snow, searing hot temperatures etc etc.

The shoot is open to all NZAFTA members.    If you are shooting the finals, please remember to use your TIMERS, and to not delay between lanes or once at an empty lane to not delay in shooting.   (This is so that we can finish at a reasonable time, get the bbq and celebrations out of the way so people that are travelling can get away).

Hope to see you there.

If you are attending, can you please register with a post below.  (So we have an idea on numbers for the BBQ, certificates, and stuff)

Cheers

Andrew

Okay, so a little working party was had today at 643 for some prep work for next weekend.

** 30 Target Course ** has been set, which will be shot twice. For a good days total of 60 Targets.

So just a heads up, bring your long game. Smile

See you all there next Sunday. Smile

Okay Shooters.   Sunday in Palmy is shaping up to be a hot one, with plenty of sun and light winds.   Don't forget the sunscreen, a hat, and bring plenty of liquid sustenance.

See you all there.

Yeah, will have to make sure enough red stuff is around. It was 31 in Otaki yesterday so 29 will be a welcome relief.

Enjoy, I've already had a cpl of ales. Smile Got stuck in a long line of traffic just at the end of the expressway. Took an additional 45 mins to get home.

Days report and the results, I will post up tommorrow. (Shattered after 2 days in the heat and sun). So having an early night.

Thanks all that made it. Was a great day

The 2017 GP Series Finals - Held @643FT Sunday 28th January.

The day started out a bit confusing really.    I arrived at the venue to find it covered in a decent layer of fog.    Still hot and humid but covered in fog.    Need not have worried though as this went as soon as we were ready to start and the sun and heat came out with a vengeance.

10 Shooters for the day.   8 in the GP Series, 2 shooting the day for fun and practice. Smile

The sun came out and the famous variable direction wind made it's appearance.   As is common for shooting at 643, it can be blowing one way, right before you pull the trigger, and then it shifts, making things very difficult to read for a lot of the targets.

The course contained a majority of long shots to really test the shooter,  there were a couple of reduced close ones, which if not read correctly would result in a miss.    It was predicted that if anyone got 45 or more, then they would be in superb form, and everyone was told to bring their long game. Smile

The results.

Well done to Carl Robinson from for taking out the PCP win with a score of 43/60.  Very well shot Carl.   Glad you enjoyed your first visit to 643FT, and we hope to see you down here again soon.

Congratulations to Brandon S, for his 2nd place in PCP, with a score of 39/60 Brandon was shooting his Panther for the day, and even managed to do his kneelers, kneeling, even though it must have cause him some discomfort.   Well done Brandon.

Dave Johnston, Jeff Heitbrink, and Andrew Collins tied on 32/60.  And a shoot off was held to determine 3rd place.   Jeff shot first, 1 hit, 1 miss.   Andrew C shot next, and same 1 hit 1 miss.   Dave J, 2 hits, (very solid effort on the 2nd target, maximum distance small reducer).  taking 3rd place.     Jeff and Andrew, agreeing to share 4th.

Well done to Rob Dyer for taking out the Springer Win with a score of 41/60.   Another superb display of spring gun shooting from Rob.   Glad you also enjoyed yourself, and we hope to see you down here again soon also.

Andrew Jurgens, taking out 2nd for Springer with a 34/60.   Thankyou to AJ for the hardwork he put in during the week, mowing the grass, and for allowing us to use 643 for the weekend, very much appreciated AJ.

Paul Blades took out 3rd place Spring with 32/60.  Well shot Paul.   Hope to see you more often during the 2018 season.

Shane Chu, a newcomer to the scene, shot the course with Paul as his first competition, and scored himself 16/60.   Well done Shane, considering he didn't have a click chart set up yet, for his scope.   Shane also responsible for the photo's for the day.   (Bloody Paparazzi, was heard on more than one occassion on the course).   Smile

Andy Evans, shot the course as well, however not being in the 2017 GP series, his score didn't count towards a placing.   Andy had a really good day, and turned in a 44/60.   (He's in the 2018's series), so watch out people he's in good form.    Well shot Andy, again hope to see you down this way more often.  Always a pleasure to have the Northern folk down.

Thank you to Helen, and Sandra for the BBQ, while we were packing away the course.  Appreciated your effort, (I wouldn't have liked to be standing next to that heat on such a hot day).

Thanks again everyone, I hope you all enjoyed yourself.   Looking forward to 2018's Series.

Special thanks to Vaughan Sports/Gamo for the donation of the prizes. And Paul Blades for the 2 Mini Rifle Stock Trophies. I set him the task late last year, and he delivered. Thanks Paul.

Cheers

A most enjoyable shot and pretty gruelling in around 28deg and 60 targets. The usual, unusual wind, SE this time and changing direction after the sun came out.

Thanks to Helen and Sandie for the excellent burgers and sausages.

All in all a very good day.
