Hope you are all keeping well and staying safe.
The covid outbreak in Auckland has had a significant impact on many operations and events around the city and we've had to make a decision whether or not we go ahead with the Nationals comp.
Taking into consideration that Auckland is still in Level 4 lockdown and when we move to level 3 that will also consume some weeks, it means that it is very unlikely we will be in a position to host an event of this nature. With no range days available to us until very near Labour weekend and closure of stores, we are very limited in terms of preparation opportunities. Also, shooters do not have opportunities to practice and test equipment ahead of the comp so could it be fair? We must also respect those who would rather not travel to Auckland due to the virus even if alert levels allowed the comp to go ahead.
In consultation with the NZAFTA Board we have decided to cancel the Field Target National Championship for 2021. We hope for better luck next year.
Could club reps please distribute this notice to your members. Also, someone with a contact for Taranaki please inform them?
